eTrans Energy

eTrans Energy was my first opportunity to construct an identity for an internal startup. The project was an exercise in patience, as the name changed several times while I was actively working on the project. While I liked my previous versions, I think the final name helped me create an identity I’m proud of.

eTrans Energy helps logistics and last-mile delivery businesses, municipalities, transit agencies, school districts, public authorities and other institutions across North America achieve optimal total cost of ownership (TCO) for electric vehicle fleet operations.

The company began as an unnamed startup with Duke Energy backing, and during the identity design process, changed names from EVOLV Energy, to EVolt Energy, to eTrans Energy.

Vibrant corporate

Greens & blues are common in the energy and transportation industries, and rather than choose an opposite to stand out, I leaned in. The palette combines saturated, bright colors with colorful neutrals.

When looking for supporting imagery, I looked to transportation; to travel, driving, maps. Topographical maps combined texture with an opportunity for great color variations, and applications over photos.

eTrans Energy was ultimately fully brought under Duke Energy management, and was absorbed into the utility brand and identity as eTransEnergy.
